Title: J. Posting Requirements for California Employees

J. POSTING REQUIREMENTS FOR CALIFORNIA EMPLOYEES

1. INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS POSTERS

State law requires that employers conspicuously display the
following Industrial Relations posters where employees can read
them. In parentheses are the divisions of the Department of
Industrial Relations that originate and/or enforce the
requirements of each poster.

a. "Industrial Welfare Commission's Orders Regulating
Wages, Hours and Working Conditions" (Division of
labor Standards Enforcement) The fifteen different
I.W.C. Orders establish minimum standards for wages,
hours and working conditions. The applicable order for
each employer is determined by the main business of
that employer. The type of business must therefore be
stated on the poster.

b. "Pay Day Notice" (Division of Labor Standards
Enforcement) The day, time, and place of the regular
pay day must be posted. As a convenience, the State
provides a small form for this purpose. However, it is
satisfactory to post this information in any
understandable form.

c. "Safety and Health Protection on the Job" (Division of
Industrial Safety) This is a Cal/OSHA poster. The
poster is printed in both English and Spanish and is
separately available in Chinese.

d. "Cal/OSHA Form 200 Log and Summary of Occupational
Injuries and Illness" This must be posted no later
than February 1 and must remain in place until March 1
each year.

e. "Access to Employees Exposure and Medical Records"
(General Industry Safety Order Title 8 California
Administrative Code Section 3204) This notifies
employees of their rights to see and copy medical
records, records of toxic substances used, history of
exposure to toxic substances, etc.

The above five posters may be obtained by writing to:

Department of Industrial Relations
P.O. Box 603
San Francisco, CA 94101
Attn: Management Analysts

2. DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT POSTER

(Division of Fair Employment Practices) This poster
describes the California Fair Employment Practice Act
and is available in English, Spanish and Chinese.

This poster may be obtained by writing to:

3. OTHER REQUIRED POSTINGS

The two following required postings are available from sources
other than the Department of Industrial Relations.

a. "Notice of Compensation Carrier" (Division of Labor
Standards Enforcement) This poster is available
through the employer's worker's compensation insurance
carrier (Cigna).

b. "Notice to Employees - Unemployment Insurance and
Disability Insurance" This poster and further
information regarding unemployment and disability
insurance are available through the employer's local
Employment Tax Field Office of the Employment
Development Department.

In addition to the above State-required postings, some
California employers must also comply with certain Federal
requirements. Employers may contact their local field office of
the Wage and Public Contracts Division of the U.S. Department of
Labor.
